So… what is it?
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) is a combination of various therapies and techniques:

SFH uses some elements and techniques from CBT. Examining your learnt behaviours, habits and thought patterns. ‘Cognitive’ focuses on the way you think, whereas ‘behaviour’ focuses on what you do. A healthy mindset is allowing your behaviours to influence your mood. Rather than your mood dictating your behaviour.

The conscious use of language to help change someone's thoughts and behaviour. It enhances self-awareness, communication and motivation. As well as making it easier to overcome psychological blocks and barriers.

The backbone of SFH. Understanding how and why you feel the way you do gives you control. We discuss the workings of the brain in the free initial consultation and recap this in sessions.

Hypnosis helps change unwanted and unhealthy beliefs and behaviours. It’s easier to use imagination, intuition, creativity and knowledge, in this state. Hypnosis enhances the positive psychotherapy work.
What is hypnosis?
The first half of session is talking and the second half is hypnosis.
Hypnosis, or trance, is a natural form of focused, selective attention. It’s a state of mind humans experience every day, even if we’re not aware of it. It’s just as effective online, as it is in-person.
Imagine you are driving a regular route. Sometimes you can’t remember the last few miles because you were “lost in thought”? That’s trance! It’s a normal state of mind. It is different from meditation. Meditation aims to silence the mind and focus on the present moment. Hypnosis is goal orientated, future visualisation, which increases theta brain wave activity.
Why is hypnotherapy different from traditional therapy?
We will never talk about your trauma or your past. Your brain doesn’t know the difference between reality and imagination. So thinking about negative memories causes difficult emotions. It can cause pain all over again. Solution focused hypnotherapy is for when you are ready to move forward.
In hypnotherapy you learn about the different parts of the brain. What they do and why, and how this impacts our behaviours and emotions.
